South Salt Lake valley treatment plant to break ground

RIVERTON — Local and state dignitaries will break ground Wednesday on the South Valley Sewer District's $132 million water-treatment project.

The Jordan Basin Water Reclamation Facility, 13826 S. Jordan Basin Lane (1300 West), will be a new regional wastewater-treatment facility. It will serve Riverton, South Jordan, Draper, Herriman and Bluffdale.

The facility is needed because of massive growth in the south valley. The project will also use a new system to filter water.

On site at JBWRF. Progress is remarkable. Anyone would be excited to learn how inovation has finally met ecology. Our management has been literally all over the world to build the best facility for this area. We will be able to turn what was once waste into two usable products: clean water, and great compost.
