Four San Marcos CISD elementary teachers just finished a comprehensive workshop and training called “Wonders of Water,” sponsored by the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority (GBRA) and Texas Lutheran University in Seguin. Jessica Chaffee, Linda Sangurima, Tammy Cox and Susan Seaton were four of the 25 teachers participating from all areas of Central Texas. The workshop explored all areas of water, its use and conservation methods in the Central Texas area.
“It was hands-down the most amazing training I think I've ever done,” said Cox. “San Marcos was well represented with teachers from De Zavala, Mendez, Travis and Crockett elementary schools attending.”
The group toured water wells in Nixon, a wastewater treatment plant in New Braunfels, drinking water treatment plants in San Marcos and Aquarena Springs, a hydroelectric plant in Canyon Lake and the Seguin Outdoor Learning Center. Two field trips were conducted to the Canyon Gorge in Canyon Lake and Geronimo Creek in Seguin.
